The link below will take you to a web photo album. It's the worse case of gauge corrosion and oil leakage I've seen. Reason for the oil leakage? The gauge needle shafts are pressed into a ferrous material wafer that sits in the bottom of the gauge housing. It's what reacts to the electromagnetic field of the gauge coil to move the needle. For it to move freely there is a thick, almost hard grease-like substance between it and the bottom housing to provide a lubricated surface for the wafer to ride on. Over the years the lubricant will break down and become very thin and runny. It will leak out of the gauge and in this case can spread to other areas in the cluster.
